Today I am going to do a cycle race and I am racing for 1st and 2nd.

Today at 4 or 4:30 me and my family are leaving to go to Hanmer springs.We are going with some of our friends.Our friends are called Claudia (my best friend) Sophie(my sisters best friend)Liz (there mum)and Pete(there dad)and Simon there baby brother.They went down to Hanmer at 9:00 in the morning.My brother is at camp and his camp is at Hanmer as well so the Hookers are going to get the key to our holiday house and probably unpack there things from the car.Then have lunch early then go and get Henry.Were going up to Hanmer at I think 4:30 like I told you at the start.I'm really exited about it so much that I feel like SCREAMING!!!iI still have not screamed because I'm in class and my teachers in here.I better go now because i've been on here a long time and my fingers are getting sore. Technology Challenge

me and Alex are building a boot were going to make it be able to be used in touch and cricket and base ball and foot ball and tackle and ripper and jack needs sprigs, some red shiny plastic and the inside of an old boot.

Today at 12:30 Livy h and I are leaving school to go to picton and it takes 6 hours to get there.I can fit my blue chair with a fish head on it in my bag and my tent and my baby alive in my bag to.

Middle Team Production

The Middle Team did a production for the first time ever. It was called Sparkle Taker. We loved doing it! Our scene was from the movie Cars. It was awesome and we were excited about doing it.

Our production was in the Ngaio Marsh Theatre and our scene was from Cars. It was amazing because we did a lot of work and we all knew our words. It was funny at times because we had some jokes in the script as well.

This production was performed yesterday on the 22rd of October.Us room 21 were very exited about it as well as all the other crazy monkeys.We are calling them crazy monkeys because they acted like them.The middle team called it Sparkle Taker because there was this administrator and he took away Fendalton Schools sparkle so he is very EVIL and he is the sparkle taker.There were three kids who got the sparkle back, the Our Way folder took the three kids to all the different movies and our one was cars and there was Toy Story ,the Incredibles and Monsters Ink.We hope we write another blog like this one.We thought our production was really wicked!!!See ya later!

Room 21 had a great time at the marae on Thursday. We were welcomed on by the tangata whenua, which just happened to be the year 4's who had previously been welcomed on! The Powhiri went really well, and everyone really got a lot out of the trip.

When I grow up video

Assembly last week

Hi Room 21. Its Brigette here Alex's Mum. I just wanted to say that i was so proud of you all last week leading the assembly. Your singing was fantastic and the outfits were very cool! It was also nice to bump into a lot of you this week outside the Ngaio Marsh theatre. I could hear the Wearable Arts performers from my office, but i didn't mind. It will be you performing in a year or two. Room 21 rocks. Bye for now. Brigette.

Shane, our teacher

Shane has been teaching us a lot about science and it has been fun. He has taught us how to make these helicopters and we got to modify them. I modified mine by adding more paper clips to make it heavier so it would go down faster. It did go down faster. We have been having fun doing this.

Science

In room 21 we are doing some science experiments about making helicopters. We are testing our control helicopters first and then we are testing our modified ones. I changed mine by making it bigger. I was trying to prove that by making it bigger it would go slower. It did go slower.

This week we did our assembly. We were allowed to dress up as what we want to be when we grow up. I dressed up as a race car driver. I was also in the video about being a Dream Maker.

On Friday we sang a song for our assembly with room 3. We had to dress up as something you want to be when you grow up. I dressed up as myself because I wanted to be me.

Smacking

If an adult has smacked a child, if they have been naughty, then they might be hit harder than the adult thought and the child might scream so loud that the neighbours might think they are in dangered. If that happens then the police might come for no reason. The the police will tell the parents off and then they will explain what was happening and the police will say it is not OK to hit.

Smacking kids

Smacking is like doing a robbery because people get hurt when they are robbed and thats the same as getting hurt when you hurt someones feelings. Its kid of like bullying and it is pretty mean. If you smack your friend then they don't want to be your friend anymore. If you hit somebody you don't know then that is against the law.

Making flies

When the class did a book we decided to make some pictures about it. We had to cut different coloured strips of paper and we had to cut them out and glue them on in different shapes on the paper. We got to use vivid on one part and we drew eye balls on it. Everyone was making a fly and after we made one we got to stick it on a piece of paper and then we got make one that was a pop up.

The Assembly

On Friday the 31st of July, we did our assembly and our buddies were there as well. My Buddy is Sophie and we did a song called "When I Grow Up". It was really fun. My little sister, Gretle, was dancing on my mum's knee! I really enjoyed it and we had to wear costumes and i was a singer.

Room 21 and 3's assembly was about being a Dream Maker. We sang a song called, "When I Grow Up". It was a full assembly and we learnt a new song.

Smacking

I don;t think smacking should be allowed because even if a child did something by accident and they didn't know it was wrong they might still get a smack and then they would get scared. Parents might not know how hard they are hitting. They might think they are just giving a tap but it is actually hurting their child.

I dressed up as a highland dancer and my mum said she wasn't going to be at the assembly, but at the end she turned up. I think she watched some of it. I really enjoyed it.

Smacking

Smacking should still be against the law because it can really hurt sometimes. Sometimes, once you have been smacked, you get really furious with your Mum and Dad and then you feel like you don't want to see them for the rest of the day.

I was a speaker in the assembly today with Alex, Max and Maddie. We did a song called, "When I grow up" and I dressed up as myself because I am a hero to myself! I liked the song because when I grow up I actually want to be me!

At assembly, I was a speaker! I had to be still and sit on a chair holding a microphone and say my highlighted lines after the other three spoke. In assembly I dressed up as "Me" because we dressed as part of our song.

Our Science experiments

We are doing science in room 21 about gravity. We are modifying some helicopters and keeping others as controls. I modified my helicopter by cutting half of the wings off and sticking those on the helicopter to make more propellers. My ideas to try and make the helicopter go faster. It worked!

We had to dress up. We sung a song called "When I grow up". I think it was really good because I thought we did quite a lot of practicing and it sounded really nice.

Grrr! Gloop!

We had a great idea to make some Gloop this week, but the instructions we used forgot to tell us ONE important thing...we HAD to use HOLDFAST Glue! We emailed the publishers of the book and they responded to our email really quickly. The said that there was an amendment to the School Journal that they sent out...but we missed that! Next week we are going to research about different Gloop recipes and find another one that works.

gloop is a type of sticky smooth shiny goo that you could roll into a ball if you wanted to. but we made it with the wrong glue so we wrote to the writer the day after Toby got an email from the writer saying we had to use a special type of glue.

the class made same gloop. and we failed because the book did not have one of the instructions in it. We set a message to the people who made the book and they replied saying that they left out a step. They forgot to tell us to use a certain type of glue! We are going to try again next week.

In room21 we have been making a sienence project called Gloop.We were mixing gloop for ages and it wasn't a success.Toby sent an e-mail to the people who made the gloop and they replied. We found out we used the wrong PVA glue and we had to start again.

Yesterday we made gloop and this is what we did. pva glue then we pored the soap flakes in. Then we put the food colouring. Then we stir it until it's thick. but it did not work. So we emailed the journal people. We got it wrong because we put the wrong glue in.

In room21 we have been making gloop. We all wanted to touch it. But we got the wrong pva glue. So we left them over night and checked them in the morning. We checked three in the morning.The three that we checked in the morning were,one that had less water,one that was normal,and one that we did exactly what the book said. So we emailed the publisher and they emailed us back.

So then later on in the day we wrote a letter to the person who wrote the story is Jill Macgregor and she did reply to us and she told us the mistake was that we didn't use the right pva glue.

Fin's Scraffito

A few weeks ago we did a speacal typ of art called scraffito. First you colour in a piece of paper. Then you paint it black. Then you put a leaf and trace round it. Then you scratch it with a nail and you've finished.

Using verbs and adverbs

In room21,we have been using adverbs in our writing.With Alison we made some origami fish.Once we finished,we got a coloured piece of paper and writ an verb and an adverb in vivid.my favourite bit was colouring in.

Sports day

Every Friday we have Middle Team Sports. Stella and Phoebe did rugby today and last week. It was awesome!!!!! We love rugby.

Winter Sports

We have middle team sports every Friday until the end of Term 3. Maddison did soccor and Alice did Badminton and we have the school disco next Friday.

Monster Pictures

We make some monster pictures and we drew these monsters that we make up ourselves. We used the colour wheel to choose some colours for the background and we put special PVA glue around the monster to make it stand out.

Today at middle team sports I played soccer the other guys that where my group that are in my class to are Ella Maddison and me.It was really fun today.

I thought the middle school choir was pretty cool the songs were fun to. Mrs Angow mostly talked and she led the choir. My favour song was "Bad Hair Day"

Middle team sports was incredible!! I loved doing hockey it was awesome because we practiced keeping the hockey stick on the ground and racing half of the team, we were keeping the ball in control and turning the ball round the cones.Last we had to
run round the field once.

Badminton

Today we had Middle School Winer Sports. Our group played Badminton. It was run by Toby and Carol. I was able to use my new power chair and move around and make sure that the children were holding their rackets properly. It was fun when at the end the children were trying to hit the shuttlecock as far as they could but I had moved away and they couldn't hit me hehehe

Rev it up!

It was about two people, Bebe and Claire. Bebe was the popular school boy and Claire thought she wasn't special but she was. Claire and Bebe were racing in the car race and Bebe ran out of petrol and Claire won the race. She wasn't using petrol, she was using the solar power, which will never run out. (Although, if the sun was behind the clouds it wouldn't go as fast!)

The two characters were having lots of fights about being different. The point of the play was that, even if you don;t think you are special you ARE! "Piggity Wiggity Jiggity Jig" was used to explain this idea.

We enjoyed the play and thought was incredible because they were good actors. They used a lot of expression as well.

my year so far

This year has awesome so far because Toby is teaching us lots of new things and it is really fun. I think Toby has been awesome at teaching year 3s this year.

yesterday the cross country was on.luckily,I was really fast but there was other fast people YIKES!It was really fun and I came fifth.bye!

The school is a nice place and I have a nice classroom and my classroom is room21 and my classroom teacher is Toby and my teacher last year was miss j.

This week we did some awesome colour mixing Miss Coats, we think it was awesome because we got to mix what ever colours we wanted to do.We really didn't want to stop doing the colour mixing until we found out that we got to do a webit more we got a real sheet and it told us what colours to do and the colours were pink,light blue,brown,purple,orange.
